How do I know if my child needs speech therapy?
Signs that your child may need speech therapy include:
Limited vocabulary for their age
Difficulty forming sentences
Limited intelligibility especially with unfamiliar listeners
Challenges with understanding language
Difficulty following directions or engaging in conversations
What should I expect during the evaluation and is it required?
During the evaluation appointment, we will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your child’s speech and language skills. This may involve observing your child’s communication skills more informally through play, discussing your concerns, completing formal assessments, and developing a tailored therapy plan. The session usually lasts about 60-90 minutes.
An evaluation is required if the child does not have an existing speech/language evaluation from within the past 12 months. You may provide a valid existing EI evaluation, IEP evaluation, or other private practice evaluation to us in place of our evaluation.
How long do sessions last?
The duration of therapy sessions can vary depending on individual needs, goals, and age. Sessions range from 30-45 minutes.
How often will therapy sessions be scheduled?
Typically, therapy sessions are scheduled once or twice a week, but this can be adjusted based on individual progress and recommendations from your speech therapist.
Can parents/caregivers participate in therapy sessions?
Absolutely! We encourage parents and caregivers to be involved throughout the therapy process. Your participation can enhance the effectiveness of therapy and provide you with tools to support your child's communication at home.
Will my insurance cover speech therapy services?
Our speech therapy services are provided on a private pay basis, meaning payment is made directly by you at the time of service. While we do not participate in any insurance plans, we understand that some clients may have out-of-network benefits. To assist, we offer courtesy superbill services, in which our company will submit a detailed statement to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. This ensures you can take advantage of any out-of-network benefits your plan may offer while making the process as smooth and easy as possible for you.
